CLAIMING A VAT REFUND FOR FINANCING FOR HOME SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS
Even if you have your solar panels financed over a longer term, you are entitled to claim a VAT refund. Despite not making a VAT investment yourself, you will still be refunded the VAT amount to your account. Given that you can make unlimited and penalty-free repayments via Duurzaam Thuisfinanciering (Sustainable Home Financing), you can choose to use the refunded VAT to repay part of your solar or solar panel system loan.
.
Exceptions in the case of the SME VAT Exemption scheme (KOR) and integrated solar panels
If you are already an entrepreneur for the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration, for example, as a self-employed person or owner of a sole proprietorship, you will already have a personal VAT number for sales tax and file your VAT declaration via the SME VAT Exemption scheme (KOR).
As you can only have one personal VAT number, we cannot apply for an additional VAT number on your behalf for the VAT on solar panels. We will use your current VAT number for your sales tax to claim via a declaration your VAT refund from the Tax and Customs Administration.
